Flowers for Algernon Ch.3

Alice told Dr. Strauss that Charlie is desperate to learn and be intelligent when he was looking for a human subject to test an intelligence-building operation. When Charlie was asked why he wants to be intelligent like other normal people by Dr. Strauss, he answered that his mother made him to focus on following other normal kids when he was young. Charlie does not even know where his parents live and whether they are alive or dead. At his workplace, a bakery shop, he drops a tray of rolls, and he was yelled by the coworkers. He is now worried that writing the report and staying up late makes him tired at his work.
